Repairing Private Homes in Raqqa Province
On March 28, 2023, our company, Hamza Abbas, entered into a contract with a humanitarian organization for the rehabilitation of private homes in Raqqa Province.
These homes are old and, due to the passage of a significant amount of time since their construction, they are in need of maintenance and restoration. To assess the current condition of these homes and determine the necessary work for each one to make it suitable for habitation, an engineer from our company, accompanied by an engineer from the organization, conducted site visits. They carefully evaluated the state of the homes, identified required repairs, and estimated the time and budget needed to carry out the work using high-quality materials.
Allow me to provide a simplified overview of the tasks we undertook and the procedures we followed when entering each home:
1. Construction and Finishing Works:
– Excavation and demolition: We performed necessary excavation and demolition work, repurposing any salvageable materials for backfilling. If not applicable, we coordinated with the municipality for proper disposal in designated areas.
– Concrete works: We executed various concrete works, including reinforced concrete, ordinary concrete, submerged concrete, and precast concrete, based on the specific requirements. Additionally, we repaired any damaged existing structures.
– Block construction and repairs: We constructed blocks, carried out repairs, and implemented internal and external cement plaster for walls and ceilings. We also addressed cracks, filled gaps with cement mortar, conducted maintenance on chimneys, and ensured proper drainage. Furthermore, we applied an external Tyrolean finish and installed handrails for stairs.
2. Doors and Windows:
– Maintenance and repair: We carefully maintained and repaired doors and windows, which encompassed different materials such as wood, iron, aluminum, and PVC. We also installed necessary accessories. In cases of severe damage, we replaced doors and windows with new ones as required.
3. Tile, Ceramic, and Paint Works:
– Restoration and application: We restored damaged tiles, ceramic surfaces, and paint in all affected areas inside the homes. Additionally, we installed new tiles, ceramic elements, and paint for the newly executed sections.
4. Plumbing and Sanitary Works:
– Drainage system maintenance: We ensured proper functionality by clearing sewage drains, repairing damaged components, and optimizing the system’s performance.
– Installation of sanitary fixtures: We installed Arabic toilets, French toilet seats, water taps, basins, water tanks, water pumps, and any other necessary items that serve the residents of the houses.
5. Electrical Works:
– Electrical network maintenance: We meticulously inspected and maintained the electrical network in each home, ensuring its safety and functionality.
– Installation of electrical components: We installed light points, switches, and circuit breakers as required to meet the specific needs of each house.
Thanks to the diligent efforts of our skilled workers and the effective collaboration between our company’s team and the supervisory committee appointed by the organization, the project was successfully completed. We officially handed over the completed work to the designated acceptance committee, ensuring that all agreed-upon tasks were fulfilled in accordance with the technical specifications outlined in the contract. The project was completed within the agreed-upon timeframe and budget allocated for the comprehensive execution of the work.
